Rezes Attila

From player to executive: the Afterglow path

From player to executive: the Afterglow path

In November 2025 ELTE Online asked me to walk them through esports. I appear in that conversation as Attila Rezes, which is my name. The story is the same one that started seven years earlier, as a player.

I reached Challenger in League of Legends, built teams, and stayed inside the Hungarian scene. I am competitive; I grew up as an elite athlete. Then it became clear that this world is also all or nothing, and I could not fit that next to the rest of my life. With a few friends I wanted a frame for people who enter even younger than we did. In 2018 that became Afterglow Esports.

In LoL we played the Hungarian national championships. Players who later became better known also came through the club. When I moved from playing to managing, I called Bálint “Paresz” Paksai into my spot. His talent is his. Showing him, at that moment, what to do and how, is mine.

Later we started a coaching programme: group and one-to-one sessions, house cups, community events. For a while more than fifty people trained with us regularly. In 2021 the Hungarian Esports Federation recognised that work: I was Esports Manager of the Year, Márton Gyöngyösi Esports Coach of the Year.

As executive I still cover a wide range: players, coaches, marketing, talks. I have organised events and moderated broadcasts. Gladiátorok Arénája in 2024, with streamers and a 500,000-forint prize pool, was one of the biggest pieces of work on the organising side. The full interview is in ELTE Online’s sport section.
